Lion's Head Studios • crafting authentic stories.
"We are an autistic self-advocacy organisation and a Non-Governmental Organization of People with Disabilities (ONGPD), based in Aveiro, Portugal.
We are an organisation of adults, parents of autistic children and healthcare/education professionals that are autistic.
We want to promote the acceptance and inclusion of autistic people in their communities and be a platform to give voice to autistic people in Portugal."
While medical understanding of neurodiversity has perhaps reached the greatest extent that it has ever reached, very little of that understanding translates into adequate representation in various media.
As a small team of neurodivergent dreamers, we seek to bring change in whatever incremental steps we can and normalize an authentic representation of neurodiversity in media.
One of the smallest first steps we can take in this mission is to create simple but widely used media: stock images and videos of neurodivergent individuals living full lives that aren’t limited to their neurotype or one-dimensional representation.
We seek to make these images and videos available to various platforms (like Canva and Shutterstock) to promote a more accurate perception of neurodivergent people in the media and give content creators a more diverse set of images and assets to use in their projects.
While this project marks Lion’s Head Studio’s first foray into digital media, it will not be its last. We have several projects currently taking shape, including potential participation in an independent feature film.
We are excited at the prospect of finding new people to partner with in our creative endeavors, and we hope that you will take a moment to share your thoughts and/or ideas about how you might be willing to contribute to our mission.
