Lion's Head Studios • crafting authentic stories.
We create memorable stories where neurodiversity is represented with authenticity and complexity because we want more folks to belong as protagonists.
We envision a world where we are accepted as our whole selves, we are free to pursue self-expression without fear, and we are free to do work that nourishes and connects us.
In the late spring of 2025, our studio head and screenwriter (Jonathan Brònico) was invited to produce one of their projects (Vulcan, a TV pilot) as a one-night-only table read performance, and one of the main goals for him as an autistic writer and artist was to have meaningful representation among his cast. That proved to be quite a challenge in the little over a month he was given for production, and despite enlisting a casting director and several other colleagues to help identify actors identifying as disabled, autistic, or of another under-represented neurotype, very little materialized within that time frame.
While other kinds of diversity were achieved with the resulting cast, there was significant disappointment in not being able to cast more authentic representation of his work, despite having had created a three-dimensional story for an autistic actor to portray the lead, a supportive team, and every intention to find a local autistic actor.
That experience led to seeking out connection with advocacy groups, others in the filmmaking industry, and partners dedicated to improving the visibility of creative folks identifying as having neurotypes under-represented in filmmaking networks and in the media at large.
Jonathan D. Brònico (he/him)
Writer / Director / Voice Actor / Editor / Game Designer / Graphic Artist
Jonathan Brònico is a neurodivergent screenwriter, short story author, and former scientist who draws upon his years of teaching experience to enhance the art of his storytelling. Like many neurodivergent individuals, Jonathan uses fiction to communicate the more ineffable aspects of life experiences, and to him, Western storytelling conventions are like a second language that he speaks with native fluency.
Jonathan’s works usually feature a character with a double identity or a character who struggles to make peace with part of themself. As a late-(self) diagnosed autistic person, he knows what it’s like to go through life with an internal tug-of-war about whether to “blend in” or to “be yourself,” and he identifies with stories that explore similar dynamics.
Jonathan’s preferred genres are mostly speculative fiction (fantasy, science fiction, horror, urban fantasy, etc.); however, he’s written mystery, comedy, and any other experimental meta-narratives that strike his fancy. He’s also a published poet, and he’s working on adapting several IPs into rap musicals.
